5 Tips for getting a good night sleep





There is nothing more refreshing than a good sleep. According to health experts, an individual must sleep for a minimum of 6 hours in a day. This will help in promoting a good health and overall wellbeing. Sadly, in today’s scenario, many complain of not getting enough time for sleeping. The present day work habits, stress and other physical problems can be a cause for this. Here are 10 tips for attaining a peaceful goodnight sleep.

1.       Eat lunch as your biggest meal
According to ayurveda, digestion and sleep are closely related. During noon, when the sun is high up in the sky, digestion process takes place quickly, as your digestive fire or the agni is maximum in your body and can process bigger meals. In the evening, this Agni reduces and hence one should have less heavy meal for dinner. Eating this way, could help you gain easy sleep

2.       Ayurvedic nightcap for sleep
A warm cup of organic cow milk, goat milk or almond milk with a pinch of nutmeg will help in attaining easy sleep. Lighter options like Chamomile tea and other organic are also very helpful.

3.       Cut down caffeine
Coffee can reduce your sleep. Reducing the intake of coffee can help in attaining a good sleep.

4.       Practice a good everyday routine
Practicing balanced sleep, eat at regular times, exercising, taking adequate time for rest from work etc will help in gaining good sleep.

5.       Unwind yourself from distractions
Overusing technology can create problems associated with Vata dosha, or problems associated with movement. Hence it is important to cut down on the use of technology like smart phones, computers etc to take adequate rest.
