Balancing Vata Dosha

There are mainly three types of Dosha’s related to Ayurveda. Each season is apparently governed by the dominance of a particular dosha- like Kapha in the spring season, Pitta in fall and Vata in the winter season. The effects of each season aggravate an increase in these Doshas in our body. The harm of this can be avoided only by balancing the effects of these doshas in our body. Eating appropriately is the only way to achieve this. What we eat should be in accordance with Desh, the place and Kala, the time- like hot beverages during winter and cold ice creams during summer.
Composed of the elements like air and space, Vata dosha is the governing factor for movement in our body. One can experience a sudden increase of Vata in their body in the months between October-February. Although there are few people who generally have less amount of Vata dosha in their body, it is important that they should also follow the balanced diet to keep themselves healthy.

Hot, brewing and cooked food are the most ideal food to be consumed during this time. Indulge yourself eating warm cereals, nourishing soups and rice puddings.  Also, it is best to avoid bitter and astringent food during this time. Sweet and sour tasted food is the most ideal.  Eat cooked food, boiled milk, rather than having anything raw. Apart from having the right kind of food, having food at the right time is also important. Ensure that you keep up a balanced routine diet to fight the increase in Vata Dosha in your body.
