Home Remedies to Treat Watery Eyes
Eyes lubricate to wash away foreign
particles through tears to keep them healthy. But excessive watery eyes could
be annoying and can even disturb your vision.
Watery eyes are a common eye condition
where the eyes start watering excessively giving it a glassy look. This
condition is common in children below the age of 2 and adults over 60 years.
Allergies, conjunctivitis, narrowed or blocked tear ducts, blepharitis or
eyelids turned inwards or outwards could be the reason for watery eyes. It
could cause severe itching, burning sensation in eyes or irritation along with
redness and sensitivity of eyes to light. Here are some home remedies to
prevent this:
1.
Warm Compress
Use a warm compress to
reduce any inflammation and increase blood circulation to the area. This helps
in soothing eye irritation and gives quick relief. Do this treatment at least
twice a day till the symptoms reduce.
2.
Cold Compress
Just like using a warm
compress, this one also treats watery eyes by tightening the skin around your
eyes and relaxing the blood vessels. This process then reduces the formation of
excess tears and also its related symptoms.
3.
Omega-3 fatty acids
Consume foods that are rich
in omega-3 fatty acids. It helps in treating and preventing dry eyes which are
referred to as a common cause for watery eyes. Include foods like salmon,
sardine, green leafy vegetables, soy products, nuts and seeds.
